Project Description

Guitar Center is the latest ground up, freestanding building at Fallon Gateway—a popular Target-anchored regional shopping center located in Dublin, CA. This single-story wood frame building will be constructed using Smart Components, roof trusses, wall panels and EWP instead of concrete tilt-up walls and steel bar joist.

The project owner and construction team’s familiarity and prior success with Smart Components and other pre-fabricated structural components made the conversion to wood an easy decision. By replacing expensive concrete tilt-up walls and the steel bar joist roof system, the project realized substantial savings in both material and labor cost while reducing the construction cycle time of the superstructure by more than 50%. Additionally, the use of wood (a renewable resource) will help the team lessen the environmental impact of the project and lower the carbon footprint—vital to achieving any green building strategy.

Framing is scheduled to begin on Guitar Center in August 2016.
